● #GuruHargobind was sixth of ten Gurus of Sikh Dharmic Panth. He had become Guru at the young age of eleven, after the execution of his father, Guru Arjan Dev, by the Nawab Jahangir of the invading Mughal Dynasty.

• #SinghaPurohit also known as Bhai Singh Purohit, was the Kul-Purohit (Brahmin) of Guru Hargobind Sahib’s family. He was also a devotee of Guru Hargobind & a commander of the Sikh Fauj.

■ The Sikh resistance towards the policies of forceful conversion by the Mughals & Afghans, frustrated Mughal nawab Shah Jahan. Hence, in 1634, he ordered total execution of the Non-muslims. He sent Commander Mukhlis Khan with an army of 25,000 to plunder #Amritsar, which was the centre of devotion for the indigenous community. Guru Hargobind ordered his saint-soldiers to vacate the complex immediately & engage the Mughals outside. But during the hustle, Guru ji’s young daughter Bibi Viro was left behind. Singha Purohit disguised himself as a mughal soldier & somehow managed to rescue Bibi Viro. In the meanwhile, Mughals under the command of Mohammad Ali had already attacked. Singha Purohit with a Jatha of 500 Sikhs immediately launched violent attacks on the invaders & in the ensuing battle Mohammad Ali was killed by Singha. But unfortunately many Sikhs also attained martyrdom & later Singha Purohit was also severely wounded & surrounded from all sides. When he laid down senseless, the barbaric invaders mutilated his body. Thus, Bhai Singha Purohit attained martyrdom.
